Hello

I was born in New Bern, North Carolina to Larry and Linda Flynn, both hard-working individuals. I credit them both for my work ethic and tenacity. My father is a veteran, he was a civil servant, a volunteer fireman, and he was a small business owner. My father built our family home by hand, and I learned the meaning of hard work and perseverance under his careful watch.  I graduated from high school and found that paying for college would prove difficult. It was then that I decided to follow in the footsteps of multiple members of my family by joining the Air Force. I took pride in my service and my work in the munitions field, even as I enjoyed traveling and immersing myself in many foreign cultures. Upon leaving the service to pursue my education, I met the love of my life. She is a Navy veteran and her story, as well as the story of many other veterans, is why I am pursuing politics. I nearly lost my wife on May 03, 2019, after the VA failed to heed her complaints of chest pain. She had a bilateral pulmonary embolism that shot through the right ventricle of her heart and nearly took her life. She was in critical condition, septic, and in need of a multitude of testing. The VA denied the medical test the hospital recommended despite my wife also having Medicaid insurance that would have paid for this important testing.  Since then, the VA has repeatedly falsified her medical records, denied her proper care, had the VA police call her, and even canceled all her vital medical prescriptions. I will be featuring a multitude of VA abuse survivors as we navigate how to best serve those who gave the most in service to our country. We can do better as a country. It is time that the voice of the people is truly heard. I am here to work for you. Us - not them.
